Kiyo

I'm a graduate from Northeastern University. I studied Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence and a minor in Japanese. I like building things that interest me such as full-stack web development, machine learning, and apps designed for people.

My work ranges from full-stack and machine learning. My projects include things such as a HIPAA-compliant provider dashboard to a repository assistant that turns whole codebases into LLM-ready content, to ML projects on kanji, sentiment analysis, and restaurant recommendations. I value being able to build meaningful things.

Besides my main work, I illustrate, shoot photography, produce music, and build more things.

    Software Engineering Consultant

    Dental Practice Sunnyvale, CA

    Built a patient-management platform for a dental practice to track clear-aligner treatment inside Google Workspace such as enrollment, photo check-ins, reminders, and stage progression.

    • Architected full-stack platform with provider dashboard, patient enrollment and update portals, automated email reminders, and a stage-by- stage photo comparison tool with drag slider for tracking aligner progress.
    • Ensured HIPAA compliance via Google Workspace BAA, implemented audit trail, PHI minimization in logs, patient data deletion, and secured shared-secret form routing, and researched regulations and advised client on liability boundaries.
    • Implemented quality-of-life features such as customizable email reminders, customizable templates, patient registry, and side-by-side photo comparison.
    • Shipped production application with automated reminders, mobile responsiveness, on-boarding handbook, and provided post-launch handoff.

    Generative AI Software Engineer

    Built an internal GitHub repository assistant that turns a whole codebase into structured, LLM-ready context for developer Q&A.

    • Designed and built a tool that downloads a codebase from a given URL, parses many formats (including images, PDFs, and tabular data), and produces structured, metadata-tagged LLM-ready text.
    • Cut processing time and token cost with multi-threading and smart file skipping (binaries, static assets, unreadable files); auto-routed files over 2M tokens from GPT-4o (Azure) to Gemini 1.5 Pro (Vertex AI).
    • Extended it into a working VSCode extension where a developer could submit a GitHub URL, get processed, queryable output directly in the editor.
    • Wrote internal GenAI documentation and onboarding (Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub) to speed up adoption for future employees.

    Built a documented React frontend for a charity-fitness platform that converts logged workouts into food donations.

    • Built a React frontend for a social innovation fitness platform where users log workouts (type, calories, proof screenshot) to help drive food donations from sponsored events.
    • Delivered fully documented components with a setup guide so the backend engineer could integrate the API without extra coordination.
